Component description missing in schematic, place component?

In earlier fusion electronic schematic, adding a component, we could see the description making it easier to pick what's needed. The newer version, this are missing and making us click each and every one trying to figure out what is needed. Please see screenshots below.

Could I be doing something wrong?

Fusion 360 2.0.17721 x86_64

Before screen. Note the description column

Now; there is no description. Everything is a switch.

Hi @v522,

This is something that needs to be fixed, thank you for bringing it up. The description field in Fusion can't render HTML like the one in EAGLE.  I'll report this.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @v522,

Just an update, the datasheet link is there but in the details section you have to scroll. I know there's no scrollbar to indicate it but that dialog does scroll. The developers are looking to make it clearer that the dialog can scroll.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @v522,

So upon further inspection the developer told me that I have probably misunderstood your request. You are asking for the description on each component being visible in the place parts panel. The developer understood what you wanted and he's updated the ticket to correct it.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks @jorge_garcia; and yes, the older version displaying description is very useful if you do not know the exact component name. Thank you for considering this!

Hi @v522 ,

Hope all is well.

Much appreciated for reporting this issue to us ago.
Good news that we have put a fix about it in the latest Fusion build 2.0.19725 which was live yesterday.

Could you please upgrade to the latest version to have a check? Hope it helps.

Please feel free to let us know if you need further assistant.
Thank you.

Best regards,
Helen

Thanks @HelenChen-ElectronicsQA for reaching out to me with this change. I really appreciate you guys adding this. I am checking this, but do not think we are there yet.

Please compare with the first screenshot on top of this post with an older version of Fusion where this was working great.

  1. I added the description column but most of them are blank. Screenshot below.
  2. A few where there is description reads the same, with some html elements showing. Please check the first screenshot in this thread on how it used to read.
  3. Everything is greyed out and very hard to read. (it's likely is a user error as I was just trying this out in a new unsaved document)
  4. I am not able to adjust the size of this box (1 in screenshot below) and there is no scrollbar that shows this can be scrolled (2 in screenshot) (had to use mouse wheel only to move up and down)
  5. I am selecting the same component from the old version screenshot, and the component and 3D model in the Details pane is blank. But if you go to Library Manager, it clearly shows this data is available (Screenshot 2).

also, I updated all the libraries and restored Library.io but it made no difference

Hi @v522

Thank you very much for all your valuable feedback! Most of them indeed highlight areas we already plan to improve in future releases. We'll notify you when we implement fixes in these areas.

Regarding point #1, the Description column in the 2D PCB file displays the footprint description. If you never add  description for footprints, we won't be able to display any information in that column.

As for point #3, the reason you see everything greyed out is because you're in a 2D PCB file, and we don't allow users to add parts in the 2D PCB. That's why you see everything is greyed out. You wouldn't see this status if you were in a schematic file.

For point #5, the reason you cannot see the thumbnails for the 3D model and symbol is also because you're in a 2D PCB file. If you switch to the Schematic file, you will see all the thumbnails loaded properly. This is also a known issue in the 2D PCB file, and we're planning to improve the thumbnails.
