3D pcb won't render - Board sketch is rolled out, please roll forward it before update!

Hello, today I encountered a problem when I tried to switch from my 2D pcb design to a 3D view.

After pressing the "view 3D PCB" button in my pcb layout design, Fusion switches over to a tab with a blank space (only the white background is showing instead of a 3D model of the pcb), and I get a warning in the corner, saying:

"The board sketch is rolled out, please roll forward it before update!" [sic]

hmmmm.png

What does this message mean? I don't understand what is meant by the sketch being "rolled out" or how I should "roll forward it". Is the wrong word order a mistake or some technical term I'm not familiar with?

Previously (yesterday), I could render a 3D view of the pcb in this way without any problems.

This is what my 2D pcb design looks like currently:

I thought that maybe I messed something up today in the 2D pcb design, so I tried rolling it back to yesterday's version of the pcb layout. Alas, the error persisted and I could not generate a 3D pcb from the older design either.

I tried rolling back to an even earlier version (~ 2 weeks ago, when I am certain the 3D rendering worked) and still I get the same warning and still the 3D view does not render.

I found another forum post with the same warning ( https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-electronics/my-3d-pcb-has-disappeared-quot-the-board-sketc... ) but as there wasn't a solution to my problem in there (nor was there any insight into the meaning of the warning) I decided to post this as well.

Hi @brozpet4 ,

I hope you're doing well. This is definitely unusual, one question, what layer are those dimensions on? If they are on a metallic layer that could maybe cause the problem.

@HelenChen-ElectronicsQA Could we make a ticket for this one? Ive never heard of this error message.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hello, the three dimensions are all on layer 20 (named "Dimensions"). I tried removing them; the error described in my opening post remains.

However, oddly enough, it appears as if the dimensions were displacing copper pours on my pcb - attached you will find a detail of the upper left corner of the pcb after I removed both dimensions. removed.JPG

Curiously, the area of missing copper corresponds to the area previously occupied by the dimension marks. I am not sure if this is not merely a graphical bug though.

Hi @brozpet4 ,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble.

Do you mind to export the entire Fusion Electronics file as F3Z format and then send to us to investiage?

I will send my email address to you in private message. Thank you.

Regards,

Helen

Hello, it's been a month since I've sent the file (and received a reply thanking me for the file from Helen Chen) -- file was sent on 2021/4/20. Any updates on this?

Hi @brozpet4 ,

Sorry for my late response.

We just released Fusion version 2.0.10244 yesterday which has a fix in it.

Could you please update Fusion to latest version and try again? I tried your file and not able to see the error in the 3D PCB file now.

Hope it works for you too.

Regards,

Helen

Hello,

I have updated Fusion & restarted it twice. In the "about" window it now says my version is 2.0.10244.

The problem persists as described above. Upon switching to 3D pcb view, the same warning (The board sketch is rolled out, please roll forward it before update!) is displayed and nothing renders.

PB

Any resolution would be help.  I was working on modify a design that has been fine for over a year.  Then a few minutes ago I went to push the 2d pcb to the 3d and I get the same error. ANd there was a 3d model of the PCB before this.  Now I have nothing, it is gone. I also had an error about some circles.  But I can't find the exact text for that error.

Hi @brozpet4 , @m_walczak ,

So sorry that I missed your earlier reply on May @brozpet4 until I received the new post from @m_walczak yesterday.

I would suggest you remove the 3D PCB link firstly in the 2D PCB, and then View 3D PCB again.

I double checked your file @brozpet4 , after removing 3D PCB link and View 3D PCB again, it will generate the expected 3D board.

Hope it helps.
