Test and Ref layers

Hi,

Can someone explain what should I put into layers Reference(49-50) and Test (37-38)?

I have fid markers(my own lib) but they are only oepn copper. What should I put into layers 49-50?

Same for test points. Open copper with circle in silkscreen layer. Should I redraw those footprints to layers 49-50/37-38?

Also, I don't see ReferenceLC/ReferenceLS layers, only Reference layer(#49). Layer #50 is missing.

Hi @silvio3105,

I hope you're doing well. These aren't used by Fusion Electronics by default so you can bend them to your will and use them for whatever application you deem fit.

I know it's not much of an answer but it's the truth, not all of the default layers have a predetermined purpose or one that we use by default.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Okey, but in EAGLE case, what user will draw into Test layer? Draw footprint(open copper) or just add little dot/+ mark in center of test point(drawn in top layer)? Same question for Ref layer

Hi @silvio3105,

The easiest answer is to draw whatever you want on them. Honestly you can use them however you want. If you are making a test jig for a PCB then you can draw jig specific info that layer. If you have specific internal part numbers that might be a good candidate for the reference layer.

For any layers that we don't use by default you can really interpret them to whatever use you deem best.
