Printers not listed

Hello,

I have three printers, one that is local the other two are on the network, I want to print a schematic, but when I go to select a printer none are listed.  When I try to create a pdf by selecting "print to file(pdf)", I can't select it. Any thoughts on what the problem is. I have tried to restarting my computer and Fusion but that didn't solve the problem.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi @m_walczak

thank you for your participation in our Fusion Electronics Forum.

The print dialog should list all available print options. What is the operating system you are working with?
On my Windows 10 (German locale) the Print dialog looks like this:

printwin.png

Do see a similar situation with other application?

Thank you and regards

I see the print dialog, but all it has in it is the create a file PDF and that doesn't work either.  I have included two screen captures, one from Fusion the other from Adobe.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi @m_walczak

thank you for the images you posted. I see you are working on a Mac and there it seems to be a problem. I will report this to our dev team.

In the meantime you could print to PDF and then use the PDF viewer to print out on your printer. This worked on my Mac computer.

Thank you for bringing this up.

Thank you for getting back to me.  I have tried to save to pdf, but unfortunately I can't select it. When I do select it the listbox goes blank and the pdf window never opens.  Things seem to be unstable, I have had things work then stop working and not work then start other things just don't work, like this.

That does not work either. I get a message "Info canceled’. The set up screen looks fine to save as a PDF.

Hi @TurningE ,

I hope you're doing well. The issue has been reported and is open. Printing to a PDF should be functional, could you try with a different design? I want to see if perhaps this is limited to the design you are working on.

Best Regards,

Jorge Garcia

Jorge,

First, thank you for your excellent videos, they have helped me a lot but I guess not enough to get print to work. I am new to ECAD. To me laying out a PCB was black crape tape on mylar. That gives you a clue that I am 79 years old.

Anyway, I tried printing with a completely different schematic from a different project and got the same results.  I attached a screen shot so you might see what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,

Jim

I have exactly the same symptoms: no printers show up in the Printer selection box and when trying to print to PDF I get an Info window saying "Canceled" after I hit the OK. I am running Mac OS 11.1 and Fusion 360 2.0.9512.

Hi, it is a bug in Fusion.  Autodesk has duplicated the problem.  So, until the fix it we are stuck with creating PDF’s.

Hi @m_walczak  and @TurningE

I'm just curious, because I am on Mac OS 10.15.7 and I can print into PDF....

H, I can print into PDF with both Big Sur and High Serra.  That is not the problem, the problem is printing to a printer directly.  As mentioned, this has been confirmed by Autodesk as bug.

I have exactly the same problem - I can not print to a printer or print to PDF - I get the cancel window. Is there any fix? This is such a basic function and it has been inop for months now.

Hi,

There is no fix.  Autodesk has confirmed it that it is a bug.  The work around is to create a PDF and print the PDF.  I agree this is something that should not happen.

Autodesk where are you on this problem?  When working on schematics, printing is something that you do quite a bit.  I reported back in October of last year.
