In Eagle, there was a button that allowed you to print text onto a PCB. I cannot find where this button is hidden in Fusion 360 PCB.

Using latest update on Windows.  I found the tool per your instructions, but do not wind up with any text visible.  I'm in the 2D view top layer same as adding traces.  Document/Test - box shows where you can type the text and specify size and position OK.  But when I press the button to add and place, I see for maybe 1 second my text in red in the gray area adjacent to the board. They it disappears.  The Cursor is in + mode, no text attached to it as I'd expect so that I could drag it to where it is needed.

When I try to add dimensions sometimes that works in red but not always as I would expect. Example, a rectangular PCB with radius at the corners. I wanted to show overall dimension of the flat to flat just past the corner's arc. I used the vertical choice tool, but what I get is the radius measurement.

OK, I found that you do not press OK before looking to place the text.  Its just that it is hidden from view behind the add text box, and is attached to the cursor.  Then yu drag, click to place, and then OK closes the text tool.  But No patter which layer I have tried to add text, it shows in the 2D fine, but does not render onto the 3D PCB, which I'm assuming is the best place to see how that text actually looks.  I even tried putting it on the same layer as the component outlines or component names show, but still do not see it rendered.

Thank you for the hint. It is one of those things that drive you crazy with Fusion 360, you have to figure out that the text is hidden behind the window and goes away if you hit OK, I tried for an hour before stumbling into this post.

The solution was given already by rlweinberg. The text is hidden behind the text attributes window, you need to move the mouse outside of this window without clicking on anything and you will see the text at the mouse location.

  • The text does not place for me even when I click. If I place it with the cursor and press Enter, it all just disappears.

I know it's an old thread but to add to rlweinberg post:

To have the text rendered in 3D, change the text layer to "tNames" then click on "Push to 3D PCB"
