Package generator confusion density level

Hello,

Just a small thing but the Density level in the Package generator (specifically the SON generator, but maybe others as well) seems to be inverted.

When Density Level is set to Most, I would expect very small pads, so I can put many chips on my board (high density). However, the Higher the Density Level is set, the larger the pads become. This is a bit confusing.

Kind regards,

Jim

Hi Jim!

Those words is based on the IPC standard so they are same across the board with others EDA's and manufacturers.

I agree they are bit confusing.

Not the most scientific way to put it, but this is how I always think of it.

Least:      Takes the least amount of space (0402, BGA decoupling caps etc.)

Nominal: Takes the normal amount of space

Most:      Takes the most amount of space (easier hand soldering)

Cheers!

Petri
