Insert a copy to current design

In importing 3d models, I do the following:

1. Download step file from website/manufacturer. Upload this step file to our fusion team.

2. In content manager, I click "Create New 3D model". This creates a placeholder for the footprint I made (drill holes/pads for example)

3. While the newly created 3d model from step 2 is open, I will open the data panel and find the 3d model I downloaded from manufacturer.

4. I will insert the downloaded model into my created 3d file.

5. I will simply move the inserted component with respect to the placeholder/footprint.

6. I no longer need the downloaded file so I want to delete the file from step 1.

7. I break the link to the downloaded file.

8. I saved my 3d file.

9. When try to delete the downloaded file, it still says it is referenced.

Any way to fix this?

I don't want to keep two 3d files (downloaded and actual footprint + component) for each part in our library.

Hi @duVX7Q3,

I hope this message finds you well. For now you have to keep both 3D files. It's the nature of the beast at this time and a known limitation.

I'll add your concern to the existing tickets on this.
