Freezing and Crashing - normal?

Hello, I'm having a hard time using Fusion Electronics. It seems unstable and buggy. Today, it giftet me with about 5 crashes and a couple of hangs - all during simple activities. The worst thing seems that there's a random generator built in that allows for things to work as expected every once in a while, giving me new hope. Is this what other users see as well? I use an up to date macbook with plenty of memory, so that's probably not the issue. If anyone can recommend a shrink specialised in migration disorders (especially EAGLE to Fusion), please let me know.

... haha, just tried to define a new layer set... pressing the config symbol reproducibly freezes FE and requires a force quit.

Any help much appreciated.

Hello @dev2EP8UX,

I hope this message finds you well. Have you been sending the crash logs? Does Fusion even give you the option to send the crash logs? These can help our QA team begin to analyze and track the cause of the crashes.

It sounds like you don't have a reproducible case for the crash. Is there anything you can perceive in common between the crashes? Could you provide more information about your system? I know our team will be interested in any and all info you can provide. Are you using the latest version of Fusion?

Thank you in advanced for your info.

Best Regards,

Hello Jorge, thanks, yes, I have submitted many crash logs over the past few days, most of them with context in the text field. The crashes did not happen in the same situations. Nothing special about the machine, 2021 M1 max macbook with 32g, macos 13.4.1.

I have described a situation above that reproducibly leads to freezing (at least here).

Hi @dev2EP8UX , @jorge_garcia ,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble about this.

I think it might be related to the random auto-save crash issue we are aware of.

We have identified the issue and put a fix in the coming release very soon.

Before the fix is ready to you, the temp workaround is to increase the Automatic recovery backup interval (minutes) to longer, e.g. 30, 60, etc, but please press Ctrl+S or Save button manually time to time by yourself before the interval time.

We will keep you be posted once the fix is ready ASAP.

Thank you very much for your patient and so sorry for any inconvenience again.

Best regards,

Helen

Helen, thank you. I've changed this setting - will report back if this doesn't fix it.

Hi @dev2EP8UX ,

Hope all is well.

Good news that we have released Fusion version 2.0.17954 yesterday with a fix about this issue you reported to us.

Could you please upgrade to latest version and have a try?

Kindly reminding that you could change the automatic recovery backup internal (minutes) back to the value you would like to set as before now with the fix in the latest Fusion version 2.0.17954. Then it could help for the auto save for each internal as usual now.

Hope it helps.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions about this.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Helen

just updated to the latest version, it crashed twice already. It a shame. I've had eagle crash 3 times on me in the total life time. fusion is crashing 3-8 times a day. really frustrating. I changed the position of a trace, hit save, and bam! crashed.

I'm getting really fed up with this.

Hi @m.ensing2UAQJ ,

So sorry to hear about that and sorry for any inconvenience.

Personally I think the crash issue you are reporting is different from the one we fixed last week.

Do you mind sharing the crash report ID or your email address used to send the crash reports to us to have a check?

I will send private message to you to follow up.

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Best regards,

Helen

If there was any, I would happily share it.. it just freezes. After a few minutes I kill it, to restart. I was using the (I) info button to change a few values in the PCB dimensions. (there were miters on the ends, don't know it that helps.)

Or it could be just random. IDK.

Hi @m.ensing2UAQJ ,

Thank you for your feedback.

May I double check with you that you have upgrade Fusion to latest version 2.0.17954, right?

I tried the steps you mentioned, but there is no luck for me to reproduce the freezing issue yet.

And do you mind uncheck below options and restart Fusion to try again?

Hope it helps a little bit.

the 'enable gpu rendering'  was off, the I set the other one off. my post started with ' i just updated to the newest version'  so yes, I'm set with the latest bugs!

the funniest one I had so far, was an error that occurred after removing a few net classes... Then the error crashed...

Sorry to hear about that.

Let me contact you in private message to get more information. If we could reproduce this issue in our end, it would be very helpful for our dev to investigate the issues timely.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

I also have issues with crashing

I worked for a couple of hours without saving (my bad)

After restart there was no backup of the schematic listed.

I did find by looking at the log file that one was created so I looked for it and found it

C:\Users\david\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\KUV2BPQZPJ3GA3RK\CrashRecovery

renaming it to have fsch extension allowed me to restore to the 3:52pm autosave

Crash time was shortly 1/2/2024 at 3:52pm

I was doing copy and pasting of a selection of labels and wires from one place to another.

It crashed after a paste operation.

Nice to know the backup worked but just didn't show up when I selected file - recover.  The project document was there but not the schematic.

I have attached the service logs that I collected this morning

version from about:

Fusion 360 2.0.17954 x86_64
Active Plan: Subscription
Windows 11 Pro 22H2 (22621.2861)

Hi @davet322 ,

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble and sorry for any inconvenience.

Do you have any crash report ID we could have a look?

For the auto-recovery file missing issue, I will have a try and back to you later.

Best regards,

Helen

HelenChen,

Since I had to end the task with the task manager on morning a 1/3/2023 I don't think there is a crash report id.  I did attach the logs that the service utility created on the next start of fusion 360. (see previous attachments)

This morning I verified that indeed if the fusion 360 task is ended with the task manager without it crashing to see if a crash recovery document was created.  I have attached the autosavefilelist.xml.  It seems like both the project file and the schematic are in the  xml file.

On restart of fusion 360 both the schematic and the project files were listed in the recovery file list so there must be something in the way that it crashed that removed the schematic from the xml file.
