Footprint editor route16 as bottom

So I just noticed that the Restrict Layers dropdown in the footprint editor is thinking that route16 is the bottom layer, so it doesn't go through the whole stack. I don't know if this is from the recent update deprecating the restrict bottom layer or what...

Hi @j_r0dd ,

I hope this message finds you well. Is this a brand new footprint or an existing one?

Try this, go to the electronics CLI and type upgradelayers and press enter. Do you still see c16 as the bottom?

It says upgrade layers can only be ran in the schematic or pcb editor. When I run in either of those it says I already have extended layers. So my existing libraries show RestrictTop with c16 as the bottom. If I create a new library I do get RestrictCopper, but c16 is still the bottom

Hi @j_r0dd ,

Could you give me a procedure of how you are getting the inspector to show this? I just tried with the Restrictarea command and it shows the correct layers on an existing component.

I'm trying to reproduce your issue to be able to share it with the developers.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I attached a screen recording. I am on MacOS btw. I tried running the service utility and reinstalling. Nothing made a difference.

Hello @j_r0dd ,

I hope you're doing well. I can't reproduce this on Windows so I have asked our QA team to see if they can duplicate it. It might be the case that this is a Mac only issue.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hey @j_r0dd ,

We have not been able to duplicate this. Do you have any other info you could provide? Are you on the latest Fusion release?

I've tried and QA has tried as well, so far we can't get this.

Hi @j_r0dd ,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for the screen recording. It was very helpful.

Unfortunately, we still haven't been able to reproduce the issue on our side. To help us investigate the root cause, we'd really appreciate your help with a couple of things:

1. Could you export and share the newly created library as a .flbr file? We would like to inspect the actual file to see how the layer is stored internally. In particular, we're looking for the newly created library from your recording, where the bottom layer is displayed as c16 Route16 instead of cb Bottom.

2. Could you share a screenshot of the Display Layers panel? While the affected footprint is open, could you open the Display Layers panel and send us a screenshot? That will help us understand how the layers are set up on your side.

I'd also like to confirm one detail. From the video, it looks like the issue first appeared in an existing footprint and then continued to occur even after you created a new library. Is that correct? If you restart Fusion and immediately create a brand-new library, does the issue still occur?

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We're investigating the issue, and you can reference ticket FUS-263200 when communicating with Autodesk to find out more. Once the status of this will change, there will be a follow-up forum post made.

@jorge_garcia I'm on the latest and did a full purge everything Autodesk related and reinstalled.

@AlinaPeng I attached a newly created library right after opening fusion and included an older library, like maybe 2-3 months old. Even if there are smd pads on the bottom layer in the footprint editor, cb Bottom does not show in used layers. I'm only using the default layers when the footprint editor opens. I usually switch to UsedLayers , but if the footprint has pads on both layers then I have to use AllLayers for the bottom ones to display and the Inspector shows they are on cb Bottom. The only time I can even get RestrictCopper to show is with a new library and even then if I draw something on that layer and go to the inspector to add the bottom layer, I only get c16. If you need anything else from me I'll provide.

Hi @j_r0dd

Thanks for sharing the detailed information, the library, and the screen recording. They were very helpful.

We've fixed this issue in our latest insider build. If you'd like to try the fix before it's included in a public release, you can apply for the Insider program here: https://feedback.autodesk.com/key/Fusion360Insider .

Just note that the Insider program isn't instant access and does require signing an NDA. If you'd rather wait, that's completely fine. The fix will be included in an upcoming public release.

Once it's available, I'll update this thread so you can check whether the issue is resolved in the released version.

If you decide to try the Insider build, please let us know whether you still see the issue.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide all the details.

Best Regards,

I appreciate it and as tempting as that sounds, having done QA work in the past, I would probably drive you all crazy lol. I prefer to stay oblivious for now unless something super critical crosses my path.

Select Layer 16 to import

now it shows cb16 Route16

then upgradelayers dose nothing.

Hi @stefan_schreiter ,

Do not use layer 16 to import into new designs. You should only import into the new cb bottom layer (I think internally its is 304). If you import into layer 16 then now you are creating a new layer which isn't the official bottom layer anymore.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @stefan_schreiter ,

I hope you're doing well. Which layer ID are you asking about? If it's bottom it's layer 304 internally. If it's something else let me know.
