Feature request: PCB editor selection action

One of the things that Fusion handles poorly right now is multiple object selection action. When multiple object occupy the same (especially on the same layer) Fusion will select the top or largest item. There is no ctrl hold to cycle through all objects at that location. We have to right click, "select item" then find it in the drop down list. After which, your item is selected but you still can't interact with it normally, you MUST use one of the options from the original right click menu. This is annoying but acceptable during normal editing, but becomes a real problem when trying to work through an errors list. I have included a screen recording of clearing a stub after a board reroute.

Hi @nathan_bryantYKS68 ,

Thanks so much for posting your feedback & the video, the video in particular is super helpful. Can you please expand on what you mean by 'interact normally' ? Could you please give examples on what sort of actions you're trying to do here? Do you mean drag move / something else? What overall behaviour would you expect here?

As a note...from our May release, you can now right click the context menu 'anywhere' with the item selected - this will bring about a true context menu (only the menu items which can be enacted on that object/group of selected objects). I recognise your issue is different to this, but this is an adjacent usability improvement.

Best regards,

Hi @nathan_bryantYKS68 ,

There are actually multiple mechanism to disambiguate selection. Here the main ones,

1) Left click and hold will pop up a list of all the nearby component so that you can select the one you want.

2) Right click and go to the select item list which you mentioned

3) My personal favorite: When you left click on an area where multiple things overlap the icon will change to a move symbol, now right clicking will cycle through the items. When you find the item you want left click to confirm the selection.

Then you can right click on the selection to select the action you want to perform on the group.

Number 3 is pretty close to the expected behavior. I thank you, it's too bad some of these features are so hard to find.
