DRC Checks & Settings

Hello,

I recently created a PCB design with Fusion 360 and performed the DRC after making updates to the via pairs.

I went from having hidden via pairs on layer 1-2, 1-15, 15-16, and TH vias 1-16. It was advised by a co-worker to make all the vias TH vias to avoid any issues with hidden or buried vias with the board house.

So, I decided to remove all via pairs in the DRC and keep only the TH via pair 1-16.

I noticed when I made the DRC checks, none of the hidden or buried vias were flagged as a warning or an error.

Why would that be?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi @RCBakerBorn ,

I hope you're doing well. If you check the properties of the vias can you confirm they are still blind and buried ? or are they all 1-16.

If you can get me some screenshots that will help us confirm.

It's very important that we check this out.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hey Jorge,

Thank you for the well wishes. I hope you're doing well.

Below are screenshots of the DRC checks via pairs (only 1-16).

The second screenshot is a zoom in of the place on the board where the hidden via is from 1-2 (next to OC3 verbiage).

I hope this helps.

Hi @RCBakerBorn,

Unfortunately there is no DRC check for vias that don't match any of teh existing via drill layer pairs. We can add such a check in the future.

In the meantime what I would suggest doing is to select all vias, using the Selection Filter and then in the Inspector change the Via Layer field to 1-16. I have just tried this workflow with a simple micro-via design I have around and it works well.

Please let me know if this doesn't work for you and I can have another look.

Hey Constantin,

With our via pairs defined in the DRC, I only see one Via layer 1-16.

I do not see in the inspector where I can change the via layer field (see below).

I tried adding new via pairs in the DRC layer stack but do not see them in the inspector window.

Hi @RCBakerBorn,

Have you selected all vias in the design either using the Design Manager Filter or selecting by using the mouse click and drag selection rectangle around all the vias? Then in the Inspector you should see all the vias with their properties and one of them is Layer. Please see the snapshot below:

Please let me know if this helps.
