Cooper Pour Polygon and Thermal Spoke Redraw Not Being Done Automatically

Please see this thread for reference:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-electronics-forum/polygon-pour-slow-in-latest-update-fusion-26...

The Fusion release that introduce the now-resolved issue with the Processing Polygons dialog box also introduced another issue. The Fusion Polygon Pour results in a lot of untidy and unnecessary fills that I have caused objections from PCB manufacturers and in the absence of any other available method, I use Polygon Cutouts to restrict the copper pour areas. Prior to this release any changes to a polygon pour using Polygon Cutouts were automatically redrawn, including automatically generated thermal spokes.

It now takes a manual swipe away and back again for both pour areas that have been isolated by Polygon Cutouts to be removed from view and thermal spokes to be redrawn. Whilst the Processing Polygons dialog has been removed in the latest Fusion release, this issue remains unresolved.

A better copper pour algorithm that produces more sensible results would be good, perhaps best done with training an AI model with best practices for PCB layout?

Kind regards,

Al

Hello @al_walker ,

Thank you for the new thread.  I'll go ahead and create a ticket for this, when you have a chance please post an example file. It can be really simple it's just something to help the QA team to test and confirm the fix.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards

Hi @jorge_garcia

I've created a very simple PCB design that shows both the thermal and polygon pour issues, which I have attached as a ZIP file.

Thermal Spokes

Starting Point - I have yet to route a trace between R3 and R4, and the PCB otherwise looks as it should:

After routing the trace from R3 to R4, the thermal spokes to the ground plane disappear:

Swiping away and back again forces a redraw:

Polygon Redraw

Starting Point - I have Polygon Pour shown:

I add a Polygon Cutout to limit the extent of the ground plane polygon pour. It does not redraw.

Swiping away and back again forces a redraw:

Kind regards,

Al

Hi @al_walker ,

This is currently under development, been talking to developers about this recently. The final solution will still take some time but it is being worked. The polygon logic in electronics is very complex and needs to be reworked carefully.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
