Change net wire is attached to

I have hit this a few times now, so instead of deleting and re-creating I thought I'd ask for help...

How do I change the net name of a wire without joining the old and new nets? In my latest example, I have used copy/paste to replicate a portion of my schematic. This preserves the net names from the original, and I now want to change the names in the copy to make them unique. But NAME tries to join the old and new nets.

Many thanks,

Jon

Hi @jonrbloom.

Here's the key to this situation. If you want to preserve the net names when you make the copy, make sure that the nets have labels. Any nets that have labels will not be renamed when you make the copy.

If the nets do not have labels then they'll get renamed(incremented) when you make the copy. That way will avoid extra work.

If you want to rename an existing net, it's easier to redraw the net. The above method handles the issue at the time of creation and it's the best way to do it for now.

Thanks for the reply.

I really want to like this software, but Im honestly struggling to understand why anyone would use it over free alternatives, much less pay for it right now. It's very cumbersome relative to other packages. The user interface really needs a complete overhaul and the lack of a global component search in library manager (i.e. which library has my component) is a pain.

The only benefits i see right now are the direct modelling integration and the package editor.

Looking forward to seeing how this improves going forward though.
