Board / Schematic Annotation Severed

Hi there,

Been a bit frustrated with the EAGLE integration into Fusion, it seems incredibly half baked at this point.

I've been forced to purchase a subscription for Fusion to work on a schematic and board built in EAGLE. I've built most of my board and schematic in EAGLE and have continued working on the schematic in Fusion. After a few additions I've realised that the Board/Schematic annotation has been severed. How can I fix this? Surely we can represent the delta between the two files given they have the same component names and present the new components as if they were added to the schematic.

Can I fix this without destroying my board? Good few hours of work here.

If you can, avoid using fusion for anything electronics related. I've been fighting to finish a project for the last two and a half weeks. It has been hell. It crashes, you loose sync between schematic and board... at least they seem to have fixed the saving issue.
Please, avoid using electronics in fusion if you value your time, it is not even beta test worthy.
I think it will take several months or even a year before it is a reliable piece of software.

Mine crashes on save every third time causing incosistency between schematics and board. The crashes occur mostly when saving the board file.

I've found that saving more often (and thereby getting more crashes) is still the best option as it's easier to fix the severed annotation issue when there are fewer changes since last save.

I switch to schematic and run an ERC to get instructions on what to change to get them consistent again but I would prefer not having too do that all the time.

Even if I only use Fusion 360 as a hobbyist it's still frustrating to waste so many hours on bugs. I've used loads of alpha and beta software in the past but have never seen a product this immature when it comes to stability. I don't even know if this is Beta as it doesn't have beta printed anywhere.

It lacks a feature or two that I'm used to have in Eagle but most things are in place but the stability issues MUST be fixed. This is where all developement has to be done now.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to revive the old thread but I think some of you are still following this. A year later, I would like to know if you are still running into inconsistencies and crashes as often as when these post were made.

Let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi @jorge_garcia ,

The situation is much better now. I haven't had that problem in a very long time.

I still always save from the design tab rather than from schematic or pcb. Don't know if that's absolutely necessary anymore but it sure helped when I was having these problems so I'm sticking to that habit.

Hi Jorge,
I wouldn't know, had to switch to a different software because this was unusable, at least at a professional level. I lost almost a month worth of work because of this. Being self-employed that means $$$$$$$.
I still use fusion 360 for all my enclosure design so maybe I'll give it another go in the future but it's unlikely, my trust in the software is destroyed. The thing is that now I have a ton of designs on another software and moving back would be a PAIN.
I already got used to exporting a DXF of my PCB from the other software and designing the enclosure around that. Not great, specially if I need to change something later on in the PCB, but it at least works.
I was really disapointed and, to be honest, still am.

Hi @ESCAPEKIT ,

Thank you for the feedback and for taking the time to provide it, I'll pass it along. I understand, since you are still a Fusion user you are in a good position because you can check in every once in a while. Maybe one day it's at a point where you find it compelling enough to try again. That's what we are working towards now.

Don't be a stranger, feel free to let me know if there's anything I can do for you here on the forums.

Best Regards,
