3D model in electronics library not updating

Electronics libraries only uses v1 of a component 3D model. Updating the 3D model does not increment the version used in the library.

If I click "edit footprint" from the library, v1 is opened. If I edit and try to save, i get the below error message.

How can I select the verison of a 3D model that is used in the library?

Why is the latest version not the default selection?

Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Would love to have an update or a solution. Please fix this or give instructions for a workaround!

Edit: I stubled across the solution.

After creating a new version of the Package the key is to not simply save the part.
Go to File -> Save as NEWEST. This will simply update the package used in the library which solves the problem.
