Can you tell us more about what you are trying to do and what difficulties you are having specifically? Post a screenshot or file if possible and I’m sure we will be able to help.

thanks,

My goal is to create single line text on a 5" design.  Here are the steps I have taken: Sample sketch listed below:

Open new sketch (rectangle)

Enter text (Simplex.shx)

Explode text

Changed constraints from green to blue

Selected rectangle and text and extruded

Single line text disappeared until I clicked on sketches to view text

Went straight to manufacture

Setups - selected origin bottom left - selected body - clicked OK

Selected Cutting

Selected Tool (Hypertherm 45)

Selected Geometry

Highlighted each part of each single line text along with rectangle box

Selected Passes

Changed Compensation to Center

Selected Linking

Unclicked Lead-In and Lead-Out Radius

Set Pierce Clearance to 0

Selected OK

Much to my surprise, it worked this time..  As you review this, do you have any concerns as to the way I did it.  I believe my problem may have been in the Geometry section.  Two things, the Youtube video from 2019 referenced double clicking each letter to select the entire letter.  This did not happen and I had to select each segment of the letter individually.  Second, the newer version of Fusion 360 gives three choices in the Geometry section:

I did not choose any of them this time as I normally would when creating a sketch for g-code.  I have been working on this for a couple days and it finally worked.  Look forward to hearing from you.  Thanks

Hi @gleah

Is there a reason you are exploding the text? Can you help me understand your workflow there? I think you will find you can skip that step and it will be more flexible, but I want to know your reasons for exploding before I am sure.

Thanks,

Kevin

I am reflecting on a you tube video that stated that exploding single line text was necessary. Today, I will try without exploding text. Thanks for the advice.

Hi @gleah Did you get a chance to try this without exploding the text? One of the best benefits is that you can go back and change your text or size etc. if you don't explode the text first.

Thanks,

Kevin
