Save button grayed out

The save button is grayed out, (I am not education edition) so I am supposed to be able to save, but I can't. All my friends/classmates have no issues, so I am reaching out for solutions.

Hi @schirmers28H

From the screen capture it doesn't look like you have a valid license of Fusion. Are you a student?

To acquire or renew a Fusion 360 Education license, do the following.

  1. Sign into the Autodesk Education site and if needed verify your eligibility.
  2. On the Individual tab, on the Fusion 360 product card click "Get product".

  1. Then click "ACCESS".

  1. Launch Fusion 360 (if you're running Fusion from a browser, you can cancel the install).
  2. If the Education license does not appear on the top of the screen as shown in the following image, sign out and back into Fusion 360.

Please keep us posted.

I do have the education license, which is why I am confused. I have tried updating, logging out and then back in, but nothing works.

Hi @schirmers28H

What is the version of Fuion that is installed? On the top-right corner of the screen click on the ? > About

Can you Export a .f3d file. From the File menu > Export?

Can you try to Reset Fusion from the Fusion 360 Utility Service? See: Overview of Reset Fusion 360 Command from Fusion 360 Service Utility. Since you may have locally cached file, when resetting Fusion, I’d recommend checking the options (Keep offline user cache, Keep user credentials).

Let us know what you find out.

Despite trying all of those steps/options, none of them work. Attracted below is a screenshot of the version. As for trying to export, I am unable to even get to the menu, with export being grayed out.

Hi @schirmers28H

Thanks for the screen captures.

Can you confirm that you're running Fusion on a Mac / Apple silicon computer with an M-series chip?

Is the graphics card driver updated?

Please post a screen capture that shows the entire Fusion screen?

Thanks,

-Dan

Hi @schirmers28H Could you go to your data panel and take a screen shot with that open and post it here please?

Another possible thing to try. You will find a Fusion 360 Service Utility. You might try using that to run a repair install to see if something wasn't installed correctly the first time.

I am afraid I already did that, having reset Fusion 360 with the service utility school.

Hi @schirmers28H

Kevin has a great suggestion about the project being the potential cause. Via the Data Panel, can you confirm which Fusion Team and Project are active? This is why Kevin asked for this screen capture.

Under your account, I can see a Closed Project named “New Project” in your instructor’s Fusion Team. With a Closed Project, you can see it in the list of projects, but you need to be invited into this project to save files into it.

Can you create a new Project and try to save a file into it?

Please keep us posted.

Can you confirm that the project invite was the issue?

Yes, I had to create my own private group, and after that, I was able to save.
