Class has visibility of my other projects in their data panel

I set up my class into groups, and defined a folder-level project for the term, with students invited into their individual "Team" folders.

All is working well, with correct permissions, etc. Well done with this improvement, Autodesk Fusion developers. Now I can look into their designs and review easily.

However, they can see several of my other Projects!

In their data panel, they see the top level project, with 4 sub-folders, one for each team.

AND they see several, but not all, of my other personal top-level projects.

They can not open them, or see any contents, but the names of the projects appear in their data panel.

These projects appear to be random. Some are from years ago. None were created after creating the new shared class project.

Very weird.

In my data panel, the projects that the students can see are differentiated by a different icon.

Most have a simple triangle of 3 dots, but the visible folders have a weird grey field with a sort of spider-web icon.

Any guidance on what the icons mean?

I'll try to attach a picture.

"BCIT MANU 4490 2023" is the correct shared project.

"CARVE" and "dehydrator" are personal, but share the same icon, and are visible to students. I certainly did not invite them to join those projects, and there are no referenced files connecting to them.

Follow-up:

The different icon indicates that these are "Folder-level" projects. But now I seem to only be able to create "Folder-level" projects. So all new project names will be visible to my whole class? (But they at least can not see the contents).

Thanks for posting your question and the kind words. I'll share your feedback with the Fusion Data Team. If needed, you can still create legacy project through Fusion Team. A couple thoughts about your project visibility question.

1. I looked and at your Fusion Team and each students' Role appears to be set to Project Contributor (this is the default and looks correct).
2. I can see that many of your legacy Projects Type is set to "Closed" = Only invited members can access this project, but members in your Fusion Team will see the project in the Data Panel and can request access.
   
   1. I'd suggest changing the legacy Projects Type to "Secret" = Only invited members can see this project.

To change the legacy Project's Type to Secret, please do the following.

1. Navigate to your Fusion Team https://login.autodesk360.com and sign in using your Autodesk ID.
2. On the left column, click on a legacy project.
3. On the far-right, in the Project Details section, click on left facing arrow.
   
4. The Project Type will be displayed.
5. To change the Project Type click on the gear icon.
   
6. In the Project Settings dialog box, change the Project Type to "Secret"
7. Click on the Save button.
   
8. Repeat for your other legacy projects.

On further review, my projects that my students can see are all the ones that are "folder-level", and these cannot be changed to secret. And I now seem to only have the ability to create "folder-level" projects.
It seems that any new projects I create going forward are visible to students (although not the contents).

Thanks for the added information. I'll check with the Fusion Data Team to see if the Project visibility in the Data Panel for Folder-Level Projects is the correct behavior.

If desired, you can create legacy project types through Fusion Team.

1. Navigate to your Fusion Team.
2. On the top-right corner of the screen click on Create Project.
3. In the Create Project dialog box, enter a name of the new project and then set its Security Type.

They were not invited. 

I followed the instructions carefully, to create a class folder-level project, then team folders inside that, then from inside each folder, I invited the team members. This all worked really well.

Except they can see the names of all my other folder-level projects.

If I open my data panel on the web, and look at any of these other folder-level "personal" projects, I see the whole class list there. In every one of my folder-level projects, they are all listed there.

They have no permissions, and can't see any content, but they can see my whole list of named projects.

I believe this is true of any project I created since "folder-level" became the default, and only, option for me.

And all future projects.

Not ideal.

I appreciate you looking into this.

Thanks for the additional information. Can you please Private Message and send me a screen capture of what you're seeing in Fusion Team (web portal) for your Folder-Level "personal" Projects that shows the whole class list?

I confirmed with the Fusion Data Team that your students should NOT be seeing Projects that they don't have a Role assigned to them. Please try the following:

1. Navigate to your Fusion Team.
2. From the left column, select a Folder-Level Project that the students shouldn't see / have access to. Shown as (1) in the following image.
3. In the middle of the screen, select the Folder Permissions tab (2).
4. From the Show option, ensure All members (3) is selected.
5. Select all the members by checking the Member/Group (4) option.
6. On the lower-right corner click on Remove role (5).

    7. In Fusion 360, ask your student to Refresh their Data Panel.

     8. If the students can still see your Project, please have them restart Fusion 360 or sign out and then sign back into Fusion 360.

Please let me know if you're students can still see your Projects.

Thank you Dan for your continued work on this.

I agree that the preferred behavior is that they should not see projects in which they have not assigned role, and have not been invited.

Please note that in my situation, they are able to see ALL my folder level projects, even though I only invited them to one. 

As a result, and since we are in the middle of the semester, with important final project work taking place within their Fusion folders, I am not inclined to experiment with removing any student from any folders, as this has a possibility to propagate across all my folder level projects, and they will be removed from all.

Perhaps we can set up a test case, where I invite you, Dan, or a dummy account, to join? You can see what the students see, and then we can try removing you?

The Fusion Data team pushed a fix for the Project Visibility issue that you told us about. Please have your students look in their Data Panel and see if they now only see the Folder-Level Projects that they were invited into.

This issue is resolved. It now works as expected, and the students no longer see my personal projects, or any projects they were not invited to join.

This is ideal.

Great turn-around time on implementing this solution.
