Wrapping sketches.

I want to wrap a sketch of the shell shape on the image above, so I can wrap it on a chair and add curves on a seperate plane to be able to add curve when using patch tool, I will then make a midplane between two points of one shell lip so I can draw the poofy affect for guide rails for the patch. However For all this to work, I need to know how to measure the area, side length, ect of a design like this if I made it. Because I know for it to wrap Perfectly, I have to draw an outline of the actual chair area where it's going to go, but I don't know how to get the measurement to do something like that for a weird curve like this.

What I'm trying to say, is how do I get the dimensions of the inside of the chair where we would sit.

*the part where the back goes+sides, not the bottom where you sit on but what your back rests on and the side bits it's connected to

(sorry for bad english)

Measure a seat cushion in your lounge room.

There is not enough in this one pic to use as a canvass.  Go freehand and make it look right.

Start with a seat bucket, as a surface body,

TSpline box with top and front deleted.

thicken to the outside, and then you have some geometry to assist with the flutes on the inside.

Might help…

I meant like I have a model to measure the inside area but yeh that also works...

Trying surface bodies before the Tspline rabbit holes.  Still figuring the fan shaped distribution.  Have worked out a reasonable? flute.  As time permits....

Yeh, makes sense, currently trying to make a T-splined chair that hit the rough shape, so I can then measure the inside area (figured out how to) and then make a 2d sketch of it, draw the "shell fan lips" and add poofy affect with some guide lines.

Can I just ask the surface body in the backround that's hidden/inactive, how was it made because I feel like my way's really inefficent...

It's just a construction surface, I split body on the bucket.  That gave me edge 1 and 3, used the bent spline curve as middle profile (2) and the loft has turned out ok, with the bullnose.

Your sketching looks complicated and is not? accommodating the curved flutes - I didn't want flat planes for the Flutes, they bend in 2 directions.

I am headed for a tspline bucket, and want to use the fanned-out loops as curves for the Flute Lofts

Roughing out the geometry to use at the moment.
