working with meshes

Good morning everyone.
Sorry for my English.
Today I came across this video: https://youtube.com/shorts/Um7FyiU0vao?si=NRYkRPbCjX9W7PwB
My idea was to scan the car window then create a surface that closes the hole and then print the piece or mill it and then continue with the procedure as in the video.
Since I don't have the scanner at hand I drew a hypothetical window (similar shape to the one in the video and I transformed it into a mesh)
Frankly I'm confused: I think I have to use the "create shape" commands but I'm not sure.
the freeform modeling topic is still confusing. I'll start watching the autodesk video tutorials as soon as possible.
Anyway, can you tell me the simplest way to create a surface that traces the hole in the mesh attached

Thanks a lot

That is an excellent idea!

Here's a screencast with the first steps to recreate similar geometry form a mesh.

Be advised that a creating the lines/curves from the section sketch of a scanned mesh might take a bit of experimentation. Scanned meshes are rarely as clean as a mesh generated directly from a CAD model 😉

Thank you so much for the quick reply.
Now I'll think about how to get the exact shape of the hole.
I hope I can do it.
I know that the meshes generated by a scan are not like those generated by CAD.
With a scanner scan would you always use this technique or maybe you would use freeform modeling?
Another question: do you know why the freeform modeling function does not create the command history at the bottom?
Thank you so much

That completely depends on the scanned geometry. Sometimes its easier to use a sketch/surface based approach, sometimes it's better to use a T-Spline (free form) approach.

That is so by design. With more experience in T-Spline modeling it will become clear why that would not be very useful.
