Hi,

I have a .stl mesh I purchased to use for some reverse engineering and its come in at some funky angles. So I want align to the origin.

I followed this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMimu388bjA&ab_channel=Into3D

But, I am getting this Error: No alignment suggested by geometry could be found

Link to the file https://a360.co/4d0FoB3

any guidance on why this wont work or any other methods to align this mesh would be appreciated.

Thanks
Ned

Unground the Component.

Then the workflow will be ok.

I would also strongly recommend turning off the option that grounds the first component to parent by default:

IMO, it was wrong to turn that option on by default.

I have been searching days for this answer!!! Thank you so much!!! Unground from parent did not appear in context menu of the component until I unchecked the First component grounded to parent option in Preferences. It would have been helping to get a warning saying something like Unable to Align Grounded Component.  Thanks again, Jeff! Happy New Year!!!
