Working offline

Hello, we need more information on Fusion 360 "work offline" limitations. We would like to work entirely locally and not on the cloud with our files. We noticed that in offline mode, we can't open our local files and we can't save locally or export stls. We are working on some sensitive projects and want to avoid cloud storage use. Is it possible to work entirely offline with Fusion 360? At least work locally with our files without Fusion ever uploading it to your cloud?

@Coolfishoffice Working entirely offline is not the fundamental workflow for Fusion 360. You can force Fusion 360 to go offline and work in the offline mode but after every 2 weeks for authentication purpose you will be forced to login and come online to validate license etc.

Fusion may not be the product for you if you want to go completely offline.

Its fine to go online for authentication. We just dont want our models in the cloud. We want to work locally and not have our models synced to the cloud. Is there a way to do this without it blocking us when we try to open/save/export?

@Coolfishoffice @It’s going to be very difficult for o manage the files without the cloud since Fusion 360 is a cloud connected product. We offer 39 days free trail for our product. You should sign up and use sample models and see if you are able to achieve what you want by running some test samples.

You can save and open files as f3d locally, Fusion's native format. You can also open and save STP, IGS, SAT and several mesh formats. But you will not be able to create any distributed designs without the cloud. This means no assemblies (you can have multi component assemblies in one design) with linked designs and also you will not be able to create 2d drawings without using the cloud.

Hi Mark,

thanks for the reply. Yes we are able to save and open local files, however, this changes the moment we go offline. That is the root of my question and problem, working offline with our files. Try it yourself. Fusion 360 seems to not allow us to open local files or save local files or export anything if we are working offline.

Hi Rajkumar,

we do not mind this. We are on the trial with some stations, and I think we may even have a seat, and we are currently already using Fusion for our models. We are well beyond sample models. We have entire systems built in Fusion. The issue we are having is working offline. We can't open, save, or export while offline. We also do not want Fusion uploading our models to the cloud at all, ever. Its okay if we go online to authenticate, its not okay for our models to be uploaded online by default as it seems to be the case and the entire reason why Autodesk forces us to be online to open, save and export. Even if it is locally.

What file types are you trying to save and open? I can save and open F3d files but like I said above assembly files can't be created or saved working offline, so no F3Z files or any other file types that need the online translators.

I can open or save the file types below in offline mode.
