Could Should Would you model Wires in some designs?

Hi All,

Some advice for Modelling.

If you were drawing some item or structure, could, would or should you also Model wires associated with them.

This is a Shortwave Antenna. The towers obviously would be Modeled but what about the wires?

In this case, the wires are an important and integral part of the structure and how it actually works.

How exactly would you model them? Pipes?

This one is a more extreme but possible case. The Wings and Struts here are obviously going to be Modeled,

but without the wires it doesn't "look" right.

Again How would you Model this?

The Models of these (which I am not Modelling I am using for an example) would obviously not be for

Manufacture per se. It is more likely they would be actual Models for Computer Use like a Game or Movie.

This one is also a bit different. There are wires for the Radio, but the Masts and Stacks are also wired.

Just looking for advice. I had a someone ask about similar Modelling and I just hadn't thought about it and

didn't know.

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for that. I expected that would be the way but I am much more interested in would I actually bother or

need to do it. What do most Modellers do?

Cheers

If you were trying to design such a hull for a ship, the wires are by far the least of the problems.

How detailed you make something is up to you.

Take this ship as an example.
Except for the wavy hull, I think it's perfect.

Hi,

I agree - a fine Model.

I think I am just looking for guidance here. I know how much detail is up to me. What I am asking is for what

is the norm and what are the guidelines for when it is important.

Sure the Ship has a lot of wires and for a Movie maybe you would draw them. As a Design for Manufacture

probably not. The Radio Antenna where the wires pretty much ARE the Design you would need to visualise it

somehow. Context is everything. The Wright Flyer aeroplane would have the wires as an accurate reproduction

as a Model but maybe not to Manufacture it. Sure there would be some kind of Procedure to actually wire it

up if you actually made it, but for a Drawing or Plan it could go either way.

This issue is not as silly as it sounds because these Models are so old that you wouldn't actually use them as

intended but people actually do build Replicas and try to be as accurate as possible.

The Wright Flyer at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington DC is NOT the actual one that flew at

Kill Devil Hill. It is one of a very small number of non-originals at this Museum. There are a number of reasons

for this but mainly the Wrights kept modifying the Aircraft and the original crashed many times so was probably

literally written off. The only thing we have to go on are photographs of the time as the original Plans do not

exist. Somebody would have designed that particular Replica. Would they have used Fusion and created the

wires? Maybe.

Cheers
