Wonky origin and relative movement around a joint

Hi all, as a relative beginner, I've hit a couple of issues I'm hoping someone can help with.

CONTEXT

I'm modelling speaker coverage in an auditorium.  As such, I've set up the room, created sliding joints so that I can set the height and horizontal position of a speaker, and a speaker mount with a compound joint so that I can change the elevation, rotation and tilt of the speaker.  All of these can be changed via the parameters dialog box.

 

The stage should be static, and all changes should move the speaker position and attitude relative to the stage.

 

THE PROBLEM

  1. I've somehow broken my origin , such that when moving around my model, it's hard to position things correctly, and set appropriate views.  Where did I go wrong, and how can I fix it?
  2. When I change the attitude of the speaker (tilt, elevation, rotation), the speaker stays still and the whole stage moves.  How do I change it so that the stage is fixed, and the speaker (and mount) changes relative to the stage?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm waiting on a download link to get a better understanding of what's going on, but I suspect your problem would be solved by grounding anything that isn't supposed to move, such as the track. Right-click on the component in the browser and choose "ground", and a pin icon should show up on the component. This usually solves the problem.

I see you already grounded the stage. I tried grounding the HorizonatalSlider as well, and it's still behaving the way you described. Looks like you need another solution.

There is a host of warning messages (yellow icons) in your timeline. Before continuing, you might want to fix those.

Then maybe you should also think about assembly structure. I personally put all the comments that move along the slide into one assembly.

Looking at the people assemblies I see hat you have a bodies folder with bodies at the same structural level as companies and subassemblies. That is also not recommended.

Also you have at least one assembly that only as another component or assembly in  structure makes little sense. An assembly only makes sense if you have more than one component in it.

 

Once you have this cleaned up and structured better it will become clearer what needs to be assembled and how.

Hi,

I've analyzed your design superficially, and it seems you want to be able to move the speaker with the mouse AND using parameters. I think that's the culprit. Try using just one method.
Make joints rigid and add parameters OR delete parameters and add joints to have those degrees of freedom you need but add limits for every joint.
Grounding the stage was a good idea. 

And yes, as @TrippyLighting suggests, the timeline is screaming at you.
