Why no Google spell check on the forum

Why is the Google spell checker blocked in the forum. I know there's one built in to the site but it is terrible, I'm dyslexic and make stupid mistakes, Google will correct these and give one or two option the one built into this site will give 10 or 15 and it doesn't even think I might have got the first letter right!

Here's an example miss one r out of terrible and the first option's visible.

Also the one in the site can't spell much better than me, it tells me these are spelt wrong.

Google

One last complaint is the one built in to the site is slow, having the Google spell check work while you type is so much better.

Thanks Mark

I had to laugh at the first example you show (suggesting visible for terible).  I feel your frustration, and will see if there is any way to improve the spell check capability, but I have a feeling it's a platform thing that wouldn't be an easy fix.  Sending off an inquiry now!

Optional: Switch to HTML mode temporarily or reply in the Quick Reply window.

I use the HTML tab but it is a bit hit or miss sometimes, on one of my computers it doesn't work well at all it seems like Google's blocked there as well. As fro the quick reply, like I said I'm dyslexic so I use lots of pictures but it will help thanks.

Unfortunately, Chrome's spell checker (and probably Firefox, IE, and others) only works in text fields, and not inside the proprietary HTML editor used here.

I usually switch to HTML mode real quick before replying, if I'm not already there.

Good luck.

Couldn't agree more Mark.

Confirming what @brianrepp said, where we haven't previously had the ability to utilize native browser spell checking due to platform limitations. That being said, there have been some recent improvements on the topic and we're currently looking into pros / cons and implementation options.

Feel free to follow this community idea for any future updates.

Some good news to share!  @philip.s and team were able to turn on real-time spell checking in the Forum, and it's live as of yesterday evening, enjoy!

Thanks for pointing that out, "Add to dictionary" will come in useful.

Definitely! One of the trade offs with switch is that in the old system is that we had control of a customized Autodesk specific dictionary, which is no longer present, but with the browser enabled spell check community members have the ability to build out their own dictionary.
