Why don't my projections update when the derived components are changed?

I'm very new to Fusion360 and modeling in general.  I'm creating prototype enclosure designs for PCBs.  My understanding was that moving all the PCB designs into Fusion and then modeling the enclosures from the derived boards with all the components would create automatic updates when components were updated but that doesn't seem to be the case.  I've used the project command to properly locate my extrusions.  The sketches are all still reflecting the old locations but I get a highlight on the time line where it occurs.  Have I done something wrong?  Have I misunderstood the value of deriving the design from the board? Is ther an easy way to correct this.

Thanks in advanced.

Misunderstanding is top of the list.

A projected article in a sketch is tied to the source, if the source is altered it will update,

but devriving a similar article, will not be related to the source of the projection.

Might help....
