Why doesn't copy and past work ?

I'm using Fusion 360 version 2.0.16490 x86_64. [Native] macOS 12.6.7 (21G7651) on iMac17,1

I have two files open, I want to copy a body from one file to another.  The option to copy is available and so is the paste option, however nothing happens.  I select the file I want to copy from, select the body and then copy, I select the other file and then paste, nothing happens.

Its frustrating because no error is displayed either, so can I do this and what is the correct way to do it?

I found a way to do what I want, from the Mesh area, selecting the Create menu then Insert Mesh, which allowed me to select the file to import.

It would be very nice if more feedback was given on the operations.

Why use mesh rather than quality geometry?

Because I'm still learning how to use it, I converted the mesh to a solid object, still didn't work.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Why would the model matter?  Its not the files, its Fusion 360, copy and paste doesn't work between files.

You'll need a bit more experience with Fusion to understand the implications of copying bodies between designs. Because you've only copied a body there's no history of how its created in the clipboard so you need to create a base feature to paste into. You can copy paste between designs that have no design history, a base feature is just a container in the timeline that allows you to work without history.

You might also want to investigate using components, then you an use Copy\Paste New and copy the features that created the component rather than just a dumb body.

If you create a base feature, with it active you can paste in a body.

I'm a professional software developer, have been since the mid 1980's.  Autodesk was around then, I expect software in this day and age to be user friendly and not leave the user wondering why or clueless as to what is going on and why something doesn't work.  If a copy operation cannot be completed then the user should be informed.
