why canvases are inserted into assemblies and not into components?

I had a component under an assembly (top node) and I made sure that the component is active. When I inserted a canvas, it went into the top level assembly and not under the component. why is that?

Did you select a face or plane in the active component, or did you select a face or plane at some other level in the assembly?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Consider parent/child relationships.

You do not want to select something before the child component.
