Whenever I try to draw a shape, in this case cube... why does this annoying black box appear?

How on earth do you contact customer services/technical support, Autodesk have the worst usable website ever?!

Worth noting it was absolutley fine for days... have a ton of memory and cpu - diagnostic info below.

[GPU Information]
GPU Device: AMD Radeon HD 6770M
GPU RAM: 512 MB

[Graphics Effects Settings]
Anti Aliasing: Off
Ambient Occlusion: On
Object Shadow: Off
Ground Shadow: On
Ground Reflection: Off
Selection Display Style: Normal
Transparency Effect: Better Performance

[Notes]
The effects could slow down the graphics rendering; try to limit them for optimum performance.

Hi,

In the Graphics Diagnostics check the box at the bottom marked "Limit all effects to provide optimum performance".  See if it helps "remove" the black box.

Also, if this is on a Windows system try changing the Graphics driver being used. To do this in Fusion go to the Preferences dialog > General > Graphics driver. If DX11 is selected try changing to DX9.

Finally, always ensure the video driver is current. Check the manufacturer's website.

Hope this helps.

As I mentioned this was working fine it is only today it seems to be an issue, nothing has changed configuration wise.

I ticked the box you mentioned and it has made no change I am afraid.

I am using a MAC.

Any more suggestions - this is driving me bonkers...

Anyone?

Does anyone know how to actually contact customer support - they have made it impossible via their website by creating a tardis of deep links so you cannot find a single contact detail, its awful!

This software which I now have 3 models in is impossible to use.

Done an uninstall and re-install not that it actually seems to uninstall as it still retiained my cloud login upon re-installing. Incidently it made no difference I am still getting the black box.

Hi,

Do you see this issue in a new document or you just see it in this specific document? If it is specific to this document, then can you try to turn off all the bodies/sketches/canvas to see if it disappears?

Thanks

I am now getting the same issue on my Macbook air, has an apple update messed up?

Can I actually get a number to call someone on? Whats the point in paying for a subscription that doesnt work?

Hi Gary,

Feel free to reach out to me at kevin.baribault@autodesk.com with a contact number and time where we can work on resolving this issue.

Also, are you getting this with just Fusion or with all apps?

Issue was resolved by using the command line to reset the options.

options.reset

options.save

Currently being investigated but suspicion is a mixed use of inches and mm.

Hi Gray,

We looked into the Diagnostic Log Files. From the option file, the grid spacing was set to a very tiny value (0.01mm) somehow. The grid is too dense, therefore, looks like a black box.

The options file is under: \Neutron Platform\Options\[AccountName]\NGlobalOptions.xml

Capture-1.PNG

The corresponding UI dialog could be:

Capture-2.PNG

The default grid setting is Adaptive. It explains why resetting option works for your case.

Hi Gray,

Could you recall if you have once changed the grid setting before encountering the problem?

Another potential cause is the option file was corrupted somehow. I will try it more and see if I could reproduce it. Any additional information around what options had been changed before seeing this behavior would be much appreciated and could help the investigation.
