Who own the intellectual property of your Fusion 360 files???

Hi All,

A few of my colegues have expresed concern over cloud based programs such as Fusion 360 and whether or not Autodesk owns part of your ideas that you store on their cloud.

Does anyone know where or if this is stated in the Fussion 360 agreement?  All of the IP stuff I read was written to prevent users from using Fusion 360 to infringe on others IP.  Nothing that I found protect user IP.

If we get our company up and running it would be ideal to use the fusion cloud but we may decide against it if it mean sacrficing rights to our ideas.

Cheers!

Hi @Anonymous

Any designs/IP you create using Fusion is completely yours. If you look at the terms of service for Fusion, Section 2.1 starts with

 "2.       CONTENT.

2.1      Your Content is Yours. You maintain ownership of and responsibility for Your Content and responsibility for Your conduct while using the Service Offering."

Thanks for your use of Fusion and welcome to the community!

Regards,

Bankim

I know this is an old posting.  I would like to point out a problem and advantage to cloud storage.

Since Autodesk forces users to keep the files in their cloud storage, I would say they are taking full responsibility for the security of that information.  If such data is lost, then they failed to provide such security, and are there for liable!   In fact I would think they are 100% liable for the lost!  Now in their long, long legal notice there is legalize disavowing them of such liability or even a requirement for them to provide security for your data.  I think they should still be held liable, since the "force" you to put files in their cloud.  If your paying for this service then they should be liable to provided some security, looks like they are not.

Use with caution!

A more specific question from someone who hopes to grow and eventually be required to implement ITAR standards.

I am a startup sole proprietorship. My startup license requires me to share my story which I would love to do eventually. But since it so vaguely worded, it implies that Autodesk is looking at my work to see if it is interesting. This excludes Fusion 360 from any work that falls under ITAR regulation.

As a retired Vereran, Solidworks offered me a free student license but they clearly stated that they would be looking at my work to see how I was using it. Not a good investment for somone hoping to eventually do defense work.

I read your security white paper and trust page. I am not worried about hackers or earthquakes or somone getting my credit card info. The big security hole is that Autodesk through vaguely worded agreements or even clearly stated but hard to find contract clauses, legally allows Autodesk access to my Intelectual Property.

If I purchase a subscription to F360, what contract agrements guarantee me that my use of F360 will allow me to meet ITAR requirements.
