I have an issue with DXF. I am using the method of create sketch of my part go to the left right click and then save as DXF a 100x100 square comes out at 2540mmx2540mm. I have come from solid works and never had this issue normally just save as DXF send it over no issues. I need to send some drawings to my local laser cutters but when he opens them they way too big I also get the same result if I use a different programme to look at the DXF.

Here's another option for you.

Create a drawing of the geometry and export this to DXF.

I created this video for another user who wanted to export geometry that was bigger than the page. Hope it helps.

Thanks for your help

I have tried this method i am now waiting to see if the laser company can open it with the right scale. they use a software called Lantek. I have opened it on edrawings and it looks ok and to the correct scale.

fingers crossed it works.

I just re-read your initial message.

Your scale is out by a factor of 25.4, which means that you are using an inch/imperial template. 100 inches is 2540mm.

Have a look at this post, the settings you need are in preferences. You need to use millimeters 🙂

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Create the DXF file using whatever method(s) you know.

Zip the dxf file(s).

Attach here for diagnosis comparing the *.f3d to the *.dxf file(s).

These are my file in fusion I created a 100mmx100mm fully defined square. To convert to a DXF I went onto the sketch on the left and save as DXF and these are my results the DXF says 2540mmx2540mm you are right in saying it has converted it as 100mm into 100inch which equals 2540mm. how can i solve this?

Thanks for your help

Hi @LeeWhitemore

I just opened your DXF in AutoCAD and measured it. It is 100 x 100mm.

There are 2 ways you could check this yourself.

1) open the DXF file in Fusion 360

2) Download DWG TrueView (it's a free AutoCAD viewer from Autodesk)https://www.autodesk.co.uk/products/dwg/viewers

Open the DXF in Trueview, and measure the geometry.
