When I check the box for Create Copy inside Move/Copy components Fusion stops

When I try and copy a component using the new Move/Copy Fusion stops responding once I try and click the check box for Create Copy.

Only seem to do it when I have components selected from the drop down menu. Works fine with bodies.

I've been trying to reproduce this but cannot seem to get it to crash. Can you try restarting your machine?

Hi @keqingsong

I restarted my computer, but that did not help.

error report CER_142373883

Just like before, it works if bodies is selected from the drop down, but if I select components then Fusion stops responding once I go and check the box for Create Copy.

Thanks,

Got it, thanks for the confirmation. We'll look into the CER and see what the root cause is. We'll keep you posted.

Hi John,

Thanks for letting us know the problem and thanks for the video. We can reproduce it after several attempts. "Create Copy" option will generate a copy to the "active" component then start moving it.

In your workflow, the sub-component was activated so Fusion gets confused by where to put the copy. I will pass it to the development team for a solution. Meanwhile, you may activate the root component as a workaround.

I have filed the issue internally (FUS-30037), and hope it can be fixed soon.

I got another question - in the case of a component is activated, do you prefer the "Create Copy" option is disabled or the copy is pasted to its parent component?

Thanks again for posting, and sorry to the inconvenience.

@NicolasXu

I had just noticed if I changed my work flow so I did not follow rule #1 but instead just created the body first.

Then right clicked on the body in the browser and selected "Create Components from Bodies" I was able to follow through from there to Move/Copy select component and check the box for Create Copy with everything working fine.

After reading your work around I see the reason that works is because the root component is still selected.

Glad you guys figured out how to reproduce it, thanks!

Thanks for asking, but I can't say that I really have any preference one way or the other at this point. I'm still fairly new to Fusion 360 along with CAD and 3d modeling.
