What PC components does this CAD software use to run. I am looking at getting new laptop and it will mainly be used for CAD, so what components are the most important?

I was under the impression that it doesn't use much... as it based on a cloud system. Which is why I bought the software for my 7 year old macbook.

OK. Now that I have calmed down 🙂 :

The minimum specs are listed following this link

It depends on what you want to do. I personally would go for an i7 with at least 8GB and 2GM of video RAM.

CAD kernels usually does not use multi/hyper threading too much, however if you also want to do rendering, however, rendering uses hyper threading very efficiently.

i see and hear this alot.

at a recent presentatrion, had a guy say, "oh thats cloud based it will run on anything and thats why it opens slow"

i proceed to explain to him, yes its cloud based, but reside and does the computing locally.

i proved this, by disabling the internet connection and booting up the software.

he was shocked to say the least.

there is so much misinformation about how it works. and i admit i dont understand the details

"Cloud-based" can mean anything from it stores SOME data "in the cloud", to it does EVERYTHING "in the cloud", and simply passes display data back t the PC, usually through a browser interface.  An application of the complexity of Fusion that did EVERYTHING in the cloud would be so slow and un-responsive as to be completely useless for any serious work.  Fusion does SOME things in the cloud, like the highest-quality rendering.  But most things are done locally, so a good PC with lots of CPU, lots of RAM, and fast graphics are required for decent performance.  There's a reason Chromebooks, "thin clients" and similar devices have not really taken off for most serious applications...
