What is Fusion 360 and what is cloud based CAD,CAM?

Hi, I new to this stuff, all about CAD, CAM, or Cloud-based stuff.
Here my question:
1. Is F360 similar software like Inventor, (like Maya is similar to Max)? or it is different software with different purposes?
2. About Cloud Based, is that mean I must always save my files in Cloud? is that requirement for using F360? is everyone can access my files?
3. Can I work offline for long time? because I read in FAQ it's up to 2 week. is that mean after 2 weeks I can't use F360 in offline mode?
4. How big the download size?

EDIT:
I already try it, only third question is left 😄

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

To answer your third question - it is every two weeks, but all you need to do is be connected to the internet so that you can reauthenticate your login (pretty much log back into your account just to validate it). Once done, you can instantly go back into offline mode. These two links here and here should have more information about working in offline mode.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Thanks for reply 😄

I have some new question:
-How to open local file? it give me a warning that it can't open local file.
-and when I try to exporting file in offline mode it stuck in "receiving data" is that mean Online Mode is required for exporting?

You can import a local file using New Design From File on the file menu. I'd never tried to export in offline mode before, you are correct it doesn't work, don't know why.

Hi @HughesTooling and @Anonymous,

I just tried exporting in offline mode and it worked just fine. Just to check are you exporting to a local desktop location or to the cloud? I tried to my desktop and the file exported without an issue. If you both are still experiencing this can you take a screenshot/screencast of what happens?

Thanks,

@James.Youmatz When I tried earlier today all I got was a Receiving Data dialog box, just tried again now and it works fine so not sure why it wouldn't work before. One thing I have noticed that's different when offline is you can't right click a component and export. I like this method because it gives you the standard export dialog with the folder view where you can see all the files in a directory.

Hi Mark,

this is one of those examples of experience deltas that we need to rationalize.  We are looking at how the export behaves at it's various inception points and going to settle on a singular approach for export.  Will keep in mind your comment "I like this method because it gives you the standard export dialog..." as we discuss the experience and decide on the right direction.

hope this helps,

If people can export it in Offline mode, I think in my cases just human error (I think it is just my mistake), I Just exporting to Local Space(Offline Mode) when I got "Receiving Data" dialog box (I didn't know if it just long loading and I just close it too quickly or what). I can't post the SS it because I already uninstall it, just want to focus to Inventor and the other at this moment 😄
Actually, I love this F360, maybe I can try it again later

but, Thanks for you all 😄
