What is causing one part of my model to not be defined?

All of the shapes in my model are defined and will outline black when highlighted over except the one highlighted in blue and even though I've fully defined lines, they are still blue? There are two warnings in the file about project sources being lost, I'm not sure how they are related or how to rectify them.

Hi,

1. What do you want to create with this 3D sketch at the end?
2. It is better to create several 2D sketches on defined planes.

The area you are referring to is not planar between the four sides.  In the video I show how you can add one 3D sketch line and divide the area into 2 planar areas to achieve your profile.  Your model is attached.

Ok that is good to know, I will use planes now with 2d sketches as a rule of thumb. I am trying to create an outline/frame and draw something that I have physically, with a digital representation and compare them. I thought it would be a good learning exercise.

Hello, I've tried to make the ungrouped lines planar and I can't figure out why they are not. I also tried the ideas you suggested in the video, but I wasn't able to implement them. It seems like I am experiencing the same issue, is this the same issue in this current sketch?

The end goal is to now fill in the area that is in between the tube and the angular edges with the patch command or something similar and being able to then extrude it to 3mm thick, everything but the tube and tube interior.

I have no idea what you want to create with these sketches.  In the model I fixed all of them to create closed sketches capable of creating patch surfaces but I do not know where to go from here.  Model attached for what it is worth.

Would you like step-by-step instructions on how to do this correctly?

I am trying to create a shroud with a tube that passes through it. I tacked this aluminum together to create a frame for the shape of the shroud because I don't have a 3d scanner and now I'm trying to recreate it digitally.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong to get to a point where my lines aren't planar.

Hello, when I looked at your file and duplicated what you did on sketch 9, I was able to then use the patch tool and duplicate the other things you had done. Thank you. Did I do the previous steps incorrectly, is that why I was struggling?

You have a "top" image posted.

Can you also post front and side images?

Observe that you have repeated a lot of dimensions.  You should not need to repeat dimensions.

Observe that you have blue lines and white dots in your first sketch (a house of cards on a foundation of quicksand), that is the time to stop and ask questions.

Start a new file.

Start a new sketch on the top plane.

Sketch a rectangle to the right of the Origin.

Add the two dimensions.

Add a Midpoint constraint between the left vertical line and the Origin.

What do you observe about the color of the Rectangle?
