Weird Diagonal Lines When Extruding Circle

Hello,

 

I am brand new doing my first tutorials. I essentially know zero about Fusion 360.

 

In this Youtube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXRMzJWo0-Q ) , the dude extrudes a circle and the result is the gray "solid" / "face" (I'm still learning the terminology so bear with me.) allows him to create a new sketch to hollow out the inside of the circle.

I must have a setting wrong that I have no idea how to identify. When I extrude the circle, I get some odd diagonal lines instead of the gray and have no options to create a sketch. How do I get the diagonal lines to turn into gray?

It looks like you have a section analysis active in your model.  See the photo below.  Just click on the lightbulb icon for this analysis to disable it:
