Succesfull flat pattern but view not flat

Hi guys,

After a long search and trial and error I finally managed to create a flat pattern from a cone shape, but although the flat pattern command works it does not show up as an actual flat part, it just changes view but still shows the folded part.

There must be something I'm doing wrong but it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.

I have modelled it using the video from TheCADWhisperer in this topic Solved: How to make a cone in Sheet Metal for unrolling....

Thanks a lot!

Hmm.  I just deleted your flat pattern and created it again selecting the outside curved face as stationary and it worked fine. Perhaps there is some problem selecting such a small flange as stationary face ? (if that's what you did). Although looking again it seems your flange goes the wrong way, changed to -.5 and it can be used as the stationary face.

That was indeed the problem, flange was in the wrong direction. Thanks!

Someone marked your response as correct, but it is absolutely wrong.

If you zoom on your Flat Pattern at the end where the planar flange was - you will see an anomaly.

AnomalyAnomaly

If you Exit Flat Pattern you will see that the Flange feature is not tangent to the conic feature.  Fusion should have returned an error rather than a Flat Pattern for your attempt.   Ping  @jeff_straterOriginal.PNG

Have I missed some mistake or are you debunking the investigation rather then the solution?

Only the first portion of your investigation which might have appeared to work, but really Fusion should have returned an error.
