weight of imported STEP model

Hello, can i specify weight of imported STEP model? Imported STEP is primary set to steel, but real model isnt just 1 solid. It has lot of free space, components in it , etc. I can choose right matterial for that body but it will have still different weight than original one. Can i manualy change weight of the model indipendent from used material?

I'm not sure exactly how you would be able to do that.

If you need the weight to be equal you could always find the volume and create your own physical material and set the density so that the weight come out equal to the one you need it to be,

But what if the STEP model has different volume than real one. I mean if i downloaded STEP model that is simplified, without holes, hollows... as pistons, models with aluminium profiles, gearboxes, electric motors and actuators etc. I know weight of that components from datasheets but if I make assembly with them i cant show moment of inertia for example.

I have the same problem. 

To assign the correct material is easy, but the volume problem is not.

What I tried is cutting the model in the middle and removing some of the inner to reduce weight and then combine it again. But this is not always easy to do and only helps for the total weight calculation.
