Viewing DWG files

I am using Fusion 360 to try and view a DWG file. It is 8500kb but its stops half way through the upload process. What can i do to make this work or is there another program that I should be using instead for this?

Hi, ronanhara1985,

I've had a similar problem before, and if I know a little more about your workflow, I'm sure we can figure out how to make it work.  I've found that where the program is doing something that you don't expect, just changing the conditions a little bit can work around a bug.

First, what do you plan to do with the DWG files in Fusion?  Just view them, or work with them?

Second, are you uploading it into a particular project (maybe try uploading it to a different project?)?

Thirdly, are you uploading them from Fusion, or from A360?

Thanks!
Tanner

Hi thanks for responding to my question. I am trying to view the files and take measurements of different parts of jobs I am doing. They are images of construction sites. I am downloading the dwg file to my mac book and then uploading them to autocad 360.

Hi ronanhara1985:

Sorry for any inconvenience caused, are you having the problem trying to upload any of the DWG files or it happened just once on the particular file?

Usually it tales a while to complete the whole upload process (including two major steps: upload the file to server and convert it to fusion file format), from what you described, it seems that the DWG file is uploaded to the server but never converted to fusion file successfully. From my experience it will take around 3-5 minutes to complete the whole upload process considering the 10MB file.

Do you see any error message or alerts in fusion saying that the translation is failed? Or it just stuck on the half way of the upload process but never finish?

Thanks.

This is the first file that I have tried to view because I am new to the software and using DWG files. I tried to upload it several times but every time it has stopped halfway on the progress bar and didnt do anything more. I also gave it plenty of time, longer that the 5 minutes that you are talking about.

Thanks, Ronan

Hi Ronan:

Can you please let me know the file name and the date you upload the file if possible? We will check the backend service log and see if your file has been uploaded successfully.
Thanks.
