View Cube and Orientation

Hi All,

I hope everyone is well.

OK, so Im a complete noob, trying to teach myself the basics via youtube / online resources. I can draw basic stuff but now trying to draw small assemblies such as cabinets, etc.

When I try to create the front via an offset plane, the positive value is towards the back. I hope that makes sense!

Ill try o describe the difference between my setup and the online setups.

When looking from the top, my view cube shows Y (top left), Z (bottom left), X (bottom right).

The online views show Y (top left), Z (bottom right), X (TOP right)

What I am doing wrong??!!

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me insane!

Thanks

Alex

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have set Z to vertical, restarted the design but still get the same issue.

Are they any other settings that would affect this?

Thanks again

This setting is relevant for new designs. For previous, the axis is fixed. Try to create a new design.

Forget the words for a moment (pay attention only to orientation of X,Y and Z).

Rotate the view cube around so you are looking directly at what you want to designate as the TOP view.

Right click on the view cube and select Set Current View as TOP.

my view cube is wrong. z is down and y is up. I went to preferences and to default modeling orientation and it shows Z up. so I changed to Y up and nothing happens. I also did the TOP view and clicked on top and still nothing happens. Ive had this problem ever since I downloaded. I have personal use. Thanks hope I hear from someone on this.

Right click, not left click.
