Very New at this. Working with badge holder.

I'm trying to work on a badge holder that has RSA token holder on it. At work we use a different type of token that is wider and longer. I figured out how to insert the mesh but not sure where to go from here. Could anyone give me some advise on how to edit the lower part of the file to accept a different size token id.

This is the file I'm using. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2814492/files

I would highly suggest rebuilding this model from scratch, using the mesh as a visual reference.  This is a fairly simple model and should only take a few min to rebuild.

in general working with meshes directly in fusion is a pita.

I think it's time for me to give up and scrap my ideas. This is not going to be easy to learn.

Don't give up!  Have you gone through the tutorials yet?  I made a quick fusion model of the badge holder that can be modified to suit your needs.  step through the time line to see how it was done and ask questions.

Try some of the hands on tutorials from Help, like this one.

Let me address one thing at a time.

  1. I'm wanting to cut one end of this out (The token will slide in.) and have tried the push pull with no luck.
  2. When I created the lip it now makes the opening to narrow. It is my understanding that once the lines turn black then it cant be edited?
  3. I do know how to fillet the corners trying to get the opening right first.

Here is what I have so far starting from scratch. This is only the token holder.

Export your file as an f3d and attach to this thread. If you Right click any sketches you have in the timeline and edit you can double click dimensions and edit them. If you've built this using the primitive shapes on the create menu I'd suggest starting again and use sketches. Did you do the hands on exercises?

The sketch curves turning black only mean they have been completely constrained. meaning you won't accidentally move something without meaning to.   doesn't mean yo can't go back and edit them.  This is the whole point of parametric design.

you can go back and edit anything in the time line.

You can also use sketches for multiple operations.
