Upload dxf files to Fusion issues

Total newbie with Fusion.  Have watched lots of videos and looks awesome, but I can't seem to make it work for me.

I have created a dxf file that includes 2 autofeed drills and tool holders.  When I upload the file to Fusion, it only shows one of the drills and also explodes and moves parts around.  I am sure that I am to blame, but can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

HELP!

It looks like Fusion is struggling to work with the blocks in your file. I opened your file in Rhino and exploded the blocks and it loads correctly but it doesn't come in as components after exploding, everything comes in as bodies under the main component. I've attached the DXF I exported from Rhino, I had to ZIP it as it ends up 57Mb!.

Here's the import in Fusion.

PS I learned something new with your file, I didn't know you could import meshes in a DXF, I think that's something new. It means you can import curves, surfaces, solids and meshes from a DXF.

I've played with this a bit more and it seems that meshes all import into the main component as bodies. With surfaces if they are in a block they create a component, but with meshes even if they're in a block they don't create a component so they all end up in the main component.

Here you can see all the meshes.

I've attached a DWG file, I redid the blocks and exported as a DWG. The surfaces come in as components.

Thank you Mark.  I will give it a try.  I am very new to Fusion, so just not sure exactly what I am doing yet.

Mark,

Your 'test' file worked to get them inserted, but I am still having troubles moving/rotating them as a unit....

I have attached a file showing what I get when I try to move the items when selected with a window.  Some of the items are still shown as meshes too.  As I said before, I am sure that I am not doing something correctly, just need someone to point me in the correct direction.

Thanks

I think the easiest way to work with the way the DWG\DXF import will be to insert the design into another design. After inserting break the link, this will leave you with one component that contains all the info in the DWG\DXF. I've attached another file with only one drill as that might be easier to work with.

Start an empty design and save, then right click the uploaded design and select Insert. After it loads into the empty design right click the component and select break link. To make a copy select the component in the browser and Copy, when you paste you have 2 options, Paste New will make an independent copy and Paste will make a linked copy.

Select Move, for Object on the move dialog select Components and select the component in the browser.

Mark,

That worked.  Thank you!!

One more question..Is there a way to rotate just the drill in the mount?

It's not going to be easy to move the drill because the meshes don't import to the correct components. What you'd need to do is right click the top component in the imported sub assembly and click New Component then go through all the meshes under the Bodies node and drag the ones that make the drill into the new component.

Really it looks like more work than it would be making the design in Fusion, how did you make the original file?

Thanks again, Mark. The files originally came from the manufacturers website.  Thought it would be much simpler.
