Unable to setup Fusion 360 for your autodesk account

I seem to be having the same problem as many other people getting Fusion 360 to start. I am a university student, using the version of this that is made available to students for free. I'm on OSX 10.9.5. The software did not start up (it stalled at the point of "setting up" the account for the application) while I was at school on the ASU network. I tried when I got home and it gave me the error message "Unable to setup Fusion 360 for your autodesk account". I tried adding the proxy exceptions: *.autodesk.com, *.autodesk360.com, *.google-analytics.com, *.akamaiedge.net, but this made no difference. I recieved the email with the product key and serial, but there doesn't seem to be any link to activate anything from this email.

Thanks,

Byron

Hi Byron,

We can diagnose what is happening here by reviewing some log files from your machine.

Could you forward the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360, either through these forums or in a private message, I will then take a look at what is going on.

Thanks,

Hi Matt,

I'm not sure if someone did something on the back end after I posted my
request for help, but the next day I tried to launch the program again and
it worked immediately. So at least for now, I think my problem is resolved.

I do have one other question: In Applications/Autodesk I find "Autodesk
360.app". This app doesn't open at all (haven't tried through command line
to look for errors). Is this related to Fusion 360, or perhaps to AutoCAD,
which I installed before learning about Fusion 360. In general I'm looking
for a substitute for Inventor (so I can stay in my native OSX environment).
Fusion seems promising.

Thanks,
Byron

Hi Byron,

I'm very happy to hear that your issue resolved itself, this normally means that our operations team spotted an issue on our server side and were able to resolve the problem.

Regarding your product questions, the Autodesk 360 app isn't related to Fusion 360, it does have some links to AutoCAD.

When setup, it is used to synchronize your local models with http://autodesk360.com/ for collaboration and web/mobile workflows, it usually shows up as an icon in the top right notification error.

Hopefully Fusion 360 is able to support your projects, it doesn't yet provide everything that is possible in Inventor, but it is catching up...

Regards,

Matt
