Unable to Set Different Minimum and Maximum Joint Limits

I'm pretty new to Fusion, so maybe I'm missing something obvious. I've created a simple revolute joint, and with no limits set, it freely spins all the way around. So far so good. I then go to set limits, but I am unable to set different minimum and maximum values. When I check the box for one, the other also checks itself (same with unchecking), and changing the value in one changes it in the other. Like so:

Any idea what's linking these together, and how I can set them to different values? Thanks.

Well now I feel dumb. All I had to do was grab the part visually and move it before I could type in the number. Also I don't see a way to delete my original post. Perhaps this will help someone else too.

This helped me, Charles! Thank you!

I don't think you should feel dumb--this seems like a bug in the UI. I can't fathom why it would work this way otherwise. Using either the text boxes or the handles in the GUI should have the same result.

Hi,

this UI bug was reported 22nd January 2017. I wonder why it still not fixed!?!

I created a screencast to make it more clear.

As you can see in the dialog box the maximum value gets activated if I activate the minimum value and vice versa.

If I enter a minimum value it gets immediately copied to the maximum value. So one cannot enter different values using the dialog box.

Strange is, if Rest is enabled then Maximum and Rest have same values, but minimum can be changed.

Even more strange is one can create maximum and minimum values using the handles of the joint and only then one can get different values for minimum and maximum.

@F360 Team: Please fix this bug for us - thanks a lot!

Screencast will be displayed here after you click Post.

@thburn - your screencast did not make it to your post.  However, I can comment on the issues here:

  • minimum/maximum enabled/disabled together.  This is intended behavior.  It does not make any sense to only have one of these, and not the other.
  • values of min and max are tied together.  see the screencast below.  The only time this happens is to enforce the condition that the maximum value must be greater or equal to the minimum value.  In the screencast, you will see that when I enter "10" for the minimum, it leads to a condition where the maximum (0.0) is less than the minimum, so it is bumped to 10.0.  But, you can increase the maximum to any value greater than 10.0.
