Unable to project construction lines

When I toggle on the construction line setting in the sketch palette and then project onto a sketch the projected lines are not construction lines unless I change them after the project action. Is this the way it is or is it supposed to be projecting lines as construction lines?

@stevePPAJF - I'm getting a similar result on a windows machine.  I also think this is a newish bug, as I don't recall seeing this before.

seems to work if I select construction first, but If I select sketch objects first, then the construction toggle is greyed out like in your pic.

Hopefully Jeff will be along to log a bug.

sorry, just catching up from vacation.  Yes, this is the behavior that exists today, and has existed this way for a long time.  You have to declare the type you want before you start the Project command.  @davebYYPCU has it right.  While Project is active, the sketch panel cannot start a new command.  The same is true for the Line command.  You have to set Construction before starting the Line command, if you want to draw construction lines.  This is why I mostly don't do that.  I draw everything as "normal", and change to construction afterwards

I agree with the first part of your statement but for the above statement, I may be misunderstanding your statement but I have no issue changing line types during most any sketching entity command such as line, circle, rectangle, arc, etc.

You are right, @jhackney1972 - That must have gotten fixed since the last time I tried it.  So, if it is possible for the Line command, it ought to be possible for Project as well.  I'll look into that.

[edit] I created FUS-113478 for this issue.  I don't expect it to get implemented any time soon, TBH, but it is in there...

This is still a thing, it doesn't matter if I select construction before or after I select project it still projects as regular geometry?

Only after I've projected the lines can they be changed to construction, am I missing something?

I do not see any issue with this process.  You might want to try turning off Projection Link, in the Project Dialog box just to verify it is a construction line.  Notice I put the sketch on a different plane to make sure I could see the type of line.

Turn off projection link and lose the very reason I'm projecting the geometry?

And to have to create a  plane to project to for it to work?

It worked as expected when I created the additional plane to project to but not on the face of body?

I must be missing something?

When I project geometry I want it linked to the face/feature I've projected it from. I should be able to project onto the surface I need and not have to create addition planes to do it.

No, you do not have to do any of that, I just created a plane and turned off the projection link to make sure you could see the Project created a construction line type.  I just did all of that to make sure you see that it works.

I've repeated the exact same thing several times and still receive the same as every other time but different results as you.

It doesn't appear that I'm doing anything exotic or different?

Why the discrepancy?

Right now for me this is still unresolved.

The only thing I can suggest is to use the Fusion 360 Service Utility and the Repair Option to try and fix your installation.

Tried both the reset first and repair second, neither made a difference in the outcome.

The only difference may be the OS?

Windows 11 Pro here

Which is kind of weird because looking at the about in the help menu it returns Windows 10 Pro

I am using Windows 11 operating system and it functions normally.  My About says Windows 10 Pro also.  I am at a lost what you can try next.

Getting the same error now on the newest version (2602.1.25 x86_64).

Start sketch, press P for project, select typeline as construction, select face needed, lines appear...
I work everyday with Inventor it does not do this but at home with Fusion is getting pretty annoying, I reference tons of features constantly in my designs.
