Unable to move sketch lines, constrained to heck I assume?

Hi. I am trying to get a feel for how to properly draw sketches in Fusion. In the past I've just imported dxf files I made in Illustrator, but obviously it's much better to learn things the right way.

The problem with using dxf files is that the sketch lines will sometimes be cut up in a lot of tiny segments, and even simple shapes like a circle can become several different arches, which can complicate the extrusion and modelling process.

My workflow:

I still have my basic design as a dxf file that I want to use as a template. I import it, but as construction lines this time. Then I draw on top of those with regular lines, circles and arches. This seemingly worked extremely well and I ended up with a very nice looking sketch.

However, I am running into strange issues where I cannot reposition some of these sketch lines anymore. My guess is that Fusion has auto constrained all of these lines with tonnes of different constraint types, making it impossible to reposition certain parts of my sketch, because it likely is tied to something else.

Is there really no option to drastically tone down the amount of constraints created automatically? I found this:
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Disable-creation-o...
Which may be helpful in the future, but for my sketch it seems like there is no real easy way to figure out exactly what is causing this behavior. I wish Fusion would highlight the constraint causing issues.
Add to this that when I try to move it takes several minutes where Fusion is completely unresponsive, as it is probably doing a lot of calculations.

I tried manually deleting all the constraints in this highlighted section of my sketch, but I was still not able to move it even after doing that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am still learning so please bear with me 🙂

I may be able to answer this myself. I think what happened was I had highlighted other parts of the sketch, which were constrained, and not able to move 🙄

I am going to recommend two differences in your technique.

1. Import and Calibrate in image of your dxf rather than the actual dxf to use as a sketch Template.

2. Pattern Features rather than sketch elements.

I suspect that for best results you will need instruction video on how to do these two steps.

Attach you dxf or png file here for instructions.

I'm sure that there is truth to the suggestions offered. I appreciate it, I will give those a look when I have more time.

I have redrawn a huge amount of my DXF, and the design is almost complete. However, I still face the same issue. I very carefully highlight and select the sketch lines that I want to move, and I am not allowed to do this still. I don't understand why, because I could move the same section around yesterday, I even saved it as selection set, and today it won't move at all.

What I am doing to overcome this issue is to select all sketch lines, make a copy, move that 50mm to the right. Then delete the old sketch lines, move the copy to the desired location.

Surely this cannot be the right way to do things? Any reason why Fusion behaves this way. It literally worked yesterday and today it doesn't (claim backed up by the selection set) 😄
