Unable to Extrude Chinese Character

Hi there,

I've been trying to extrude a chinese character with the font MHGKyokashotaiTHK-Light but I keep getting the error "Tool Body creation failed". Other fonts seem to work... Is there anyone with a similar experience? I'd rather not have to spline everything...

Will you please make a screencast? It will be very helpful.

Ben.

I've created a screencast at http://autode.sk/2gmgqjx

The problem seems to have changed a little - now the character extrudes but in a different font (NSimSun). I've tried other fonts as well, and it seems to work for blocky Chinese fonts but not those with more brush-like or cursive flair like the one I'm using and Adobe Kaiti.

Hi @Anonymous,

I think you may have stumbled upon a bug here, but I am uncertain.

Would you be able to share the design so I may test on machine for reproducibility? We have created a great article, linked here, that describes the many ways that you can share a design with someone. For the purposes of troubleshooting this, I would suggest sharing a public link to the design. If you aren't comfortable sharing the design with the entire forum, feel free to shoot me a private message with a link to the design.

Could you also tell me a little bit about your machine? Mainly, I would like to know what operating system you are using and which build of Fusion 360 you are using. To figure out which build you are using, select the "?" in the upper right corner of Fusion 360 and selecting "About" from the resulting dropdown. Once the "About" dialog box appears, you can find the build of Fusion 360 as highlighted in the image below (the build should not match the image, as the image is a couple months old).

Thanks in advance for the design and the information! I look forward to hearing back from you!

Cheers,

When you are in the Sketch edit, Right click on the Text and choose Explode Text. Then try to extrude again and see if it helps.

Cheers / Ben
