Unable to Export PDF on Large Drawing Set_Solution

I ran into an issue where I was unable to export custom ranges of sheets on a large drawing set. I could export the whole drawing set and some smaller subsets of sheets, but once the custom range got over ~15 sheets, nothing would happen when I tried to export. No error, no crash, but no PDF either. I finally figured out the issue seems to be long sheet names as a result of copying sheets over and over. I ended up with sheet names like "Sheet1-Copy-Copy-Copy...". Renaming all the sheets to something more reasonable solved the issue. Wanted to make a post in case someone else runs into the same issue.

I've notified Autodesk, so they know about the issue. Hopefully they can either fix the underlying issue or change the default naming convention when copying sheets to avoid the super long sheet names.

Hi @euclidmandd ,

Thank you for posting on Fusion forum, we are here to help you.

As you mentioned that you are having an issue with the export the drawing set in  PDF.

I did try with the 25 sheets in the Drawing and all exported as single file with 25 pages for sheets.

can you let me know what workflow you are using to export the file?

Thanks

Hey Pradip,

I've got 88 sheets in my drawing set. Exporting using the "all sheets" setting worked normally, even with the long sheet names. It was when I exported using "selected sheets" or "range" that it would fail sometimes. There wasn't a specific number of sheets that caused the issue. For example exporting sheets 1-35, or 20-40 worked, but 10-40 and 30-50 failed. That seems to track with the sheet names getting longer with later sheets in the drawing.

Here's an example of one of the longer sheet name near the end of the drawing set.

In case it matters, I was communicating with Chethan S in tech support and it was CaseNo:26465236 (closed now)

Hi @euclidmandd ,

Thank you for your reply and I can able to crete a script for rename the sheet, if you have such an issues.

rename drawing sheets manually take nuch time.

please check the script and try first on the sample file, you can also modify the script based on your requirements.

currently the rename of the sheet renames like "__tmp_rename_01__" add a number sequence 02, 03, ....and so on for the each sheets.

Please check the attach file, extract and copy to the location.

Thanks Pradip. I'll give that a shot next time I've got a long drawings set.
