Ksplines are smooth except at their end points. Use a smooth constraint to make a smooth transition from spline end points to other lines.
Chamfers and radii/ fillets should be applied as solid features. Yeas, I know it's not always a good solution 😉 it's just the best advise for Fusion 360 at this point it's time.
By "smooth" do you mean something like "fairing" a spline (Fairing Curves)? This is something we've talked about adding, but never done anything with. Regarding chamfer, it it just a case of not being a high-priority request yet. I just checked, and there are 4 separate Idea Station requests for this (we really should combine those... @keqingsong?)
You should vote for one or all of these if this is something that is important to you.
If I want a chamfer in a sketch, I will usually just do it manually. The key here is that there is no reason (other than "cleanliness") to trim the curves. You can, but it's not necessary:

Thanks for the replies, I was sure I was missing something on the chamfer issue and tried all kinds of things from space bar to shift when using the fillet tool.
What I was thinking about concerning the spline smoothing is Elevate curve, I would also like to ask about Curvature display, how is that used?
