Turn off extrude, auto??? select?

How do you turn off the memory or auto select function in Extrude? The function where once you keyboard select or click on extrude it already has some surface selected and if you unselect that surface and select another it automaticly extrudes to the surface it automaticly selected and you have to cancel extrude, reselect extrude and clear the automatic selection before you can get it to let you select what you want it to do?

Automatic profile selection, is not common.  Happens in very strict conditions.

Can you video that, cause I can’t get my head around it so far.

If you have a sketch, with a single profile, Fusion 360 will automatically select that profile when you select the Extrude command.  If you have a sketch with a multiple profile, the Extrude command will not select a profile automatically, you will have to pick the profile(s) desired.  There is no setting in the application to stop this process.

Sorry. I was out of town.

The selection was happening on an old model with several edits and modifications. Whenever I would key or click extrude, a surface of the model would get selected without me clicking on it. If I preselected a surface and keyed or clicked extrude a distance would be selected without input from me. If I modified the automatic input info the other field would persist until I cleared all of it or closed extrude. If I preselected a surface, clicked or keyed extrude, then cleared and modified the auto selected distance and entered the desired distance it worked.

It does this from time to time on different models so I assumed it was a setting I had selected a couple years ago when the designs were started and I knew even less than I do now.

There is no setting to control what I describe in my video.  If you would like to attach the model giving you the issues you describe, the Forum users can take a  look.  You also could create a video of the issue and post it for to help diagnosis your issue.   If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Your descriptions are difficult to relate.

Fusion will tend to remember last values when you open a Create Tool.

common is the Hole tool, it will populate files with what was the last hole detail, in case they are to be the same, if not edit the fields is normal behaviour.

You also sort of say you are editing an Extrude, so yes current selections and values are provided - for editing, again normal behaviour, and a nightmare if it didn’t.
